Mexico’s Federal Commission for Protection against Sanitary Risks (Cofepris) has expanded its health alerts regarding counterfeit, adulterated, and stolen medical products. Following initial warnings about counterfeit Choragon 5000 UI fertility medication, the agency identified Argliptin-D 50 mg/850 mg, a type 2 diabetes medication, as adulterated. Specifically, lot LC89738, which carries a February 2027 expiration date, was flagged because it was not imported to Mexico for commercialization. Cofepris also reported the theft of AstraZeneca medications and a voluntary recall for Apozemia XRMR 500 mg. Recent alerts have highlighted further thefts affecting various pharmaceutical and sexual health products. Siegfried Rhein reported the theft of Sydolil, a migraine treatment, specifically lot 102910 (expiring July 7, 2026). Because the storage and transport conditions of stolen goods are unknown, the agency stated that the “quality, safety, and efficacy of the drug cannot be guaranteed.” Additionally, Almacén de Drogas, S. A. reported the theft of Sinuberase (lot 5I132y) and Neo-Melubrina (lot FMX0999y). The scope of stolen items also includes three lots of Prudence Clásico condoms (codes NV577602, NV577603, and NV580901). Cofepris warned that these items may be sold illegally via digital platforms or on public streets, and urged streets. Further alerts have identified adulterated versions of the public to purchase only from authorized distributors to avoid risks associated multivitamin ADerogyl (batches CMXA036 and CMXA037), with unverified product integrity. Sanofi Aventis de México reporting anomalies regarding identity and purity. Cofepris also flagged counterfeit versions of the oncology treatments Darzalex (400 mg/20 mL) and Simponi (50 mg/0.5 mL), warning that unknown manufacturing and ingredient concentrations pose significant health risks.
