Collegiate athletes across various conferences have been receiving weekly honors as the 2026-27 season begins. In mid-August, honors were distributed within the Big West Conference and Conference USA, specifically recognizing soccer players for clean sheets and decisive goals. By early September, accolades expanded to include players in the USA South Conference, the Missouri Valley Conference, and the Atlantic Coast Conference. These honors covered multiple sports, including soccer and field hockey, recognizing offensive contributions, defensive shutouts, and individual player performances. In the second week of September, the Great American Conference (GAC) recognized Emma Young and Kinsey Geasland of Southwestern Oklahoma State University as Goalkeeper and Offensive Player of the Week, respectively. Young recorded six saves in a match against Emporia State, while Geasland scored in both of her team’s games. Additionally, in Conference USA, Western Kentucky University’s Abby Wiedermann and Mia Riddick were named Defensive Player of the Week and Goalkeeper of the Week. Their performances contributed to two shutout victories against DePaul and UIC, helping the program maintain an unbeaten record through its first seven games for the first time since 2008.
