In late September 2026, a Warsaw District Court issued the first verdicts in the scandal, convicting six former rectors and vice-rectors of private higher education institutions. These individuals admitted to bribing officials within the Polish Accreditation Committee (PKA) with sums ranging from 100,000 PLN to 650,000 PLN to secure favorable accreditation decisions. Penalties included suspended prison sentences and significant fines.

Following these verdicts, authorities intensified operations. On September 29, 2026, officers from the Central Anticorruption Bureau (CBA) and the Border Guard detained 11 individuals. Jacek Dobrzyński, spokesperson for the Minister Coordinating Special Services, confirmed that six of those detained currently or previously held high-ranking positions at two private universities.

As of late September 2026, the probe has resulted in 407 charges being brought against 84 suspects. The scope of the investigation has grown to include 26 institutions, with prosecutors bringing charges against academics, politicians, and local officials such as the Mayor of Wrocław and former members of the European Parliament. The case involves allegations of diploma trafficking, money laundering, and the systematic issuance of false documentation, such as MBA diplomas, for fictitious studies. Authorities have secured approximately 176 million PLN and nearly 600,000 EUR in assets.
