Colombia earthquake housing reconstruction efforts
Overview
Following an earthquake in Colombia on August 10, Grupo Argos and artist Nicky Jam launched the ‘Adopta un Hogar’ campaign to assist families in regions such as Chocó, Valle del Cauca, and the Eje Cafetero. The initiative utilizes a matching model to raise up to 26,000 million pesos for home repairs and reconstruction, leveraging Grupo Argos’s technical expertise through its ‘Casa para mí’ and ‘Hogares Saludables’ programs.
As the relief efforts progressed, Fundación Grupo Argos introduced new seismic-resistant housing models designed for rapid construction, with a target completion time of approximately three weeks. The first phase of rural reconstruction is set to begin in Caldas and southwestern Antioquia, focusing on housing tailored to coffee-growing families. This reconstruction work is being coordinated with various entities, including the Ministry of Housing and the National Government’s Fondo Milagro.
