Colombian government extraditions

Following the assumption of office by President Abelardo de la Espriella on August 7, the Colombian government has authorized several extraditions as part of international judicial cooperation.

Through Ministry of Justice resolutions 308 to 312 of 2026, the administration approved the transfer of four Colombian citizens to face various charges: Armando Luis Suárez Calvo and Didier Ignacio García are to be extradited to the United States for involvement in international cocaine trafficking; Diego Alberto Londoño will be sent to Peru for alleged aggravated drug trafficking; and Roderick Aldair Morales Delgado will be extradited to Panama regarding investigations into aggravated homicide.

Additionally, the government authorized the extradition of Jorge Luis Mojica Ortiz, a Dominican national apprehended in Medellín via an Interpol red notice, to the Dominican Republic for the investigation of sexual abuse of a minor.

By early September, the administration expanded its extradition efforts to include high-ranking guerrilla leaders. President de la Espriella ordered the extradition of FARC dissidents Willinton Henao Gutiérrez (alias ‘El Mocho Olmedo’), Carmen Evelio Castillo Carrillo (alias ‘Muñeca’), and Geovany Andrés Rojas (alias ‘Araña’) to the United States. These individuals face charges including narcoterrorism, drug trafficking, and illegal weapons possession. This move represents a strategic shift in national security policy, reversing previous suspensions of extradition linked to peace dialogue processes to better align with U.S. efforts to dismantle armed organizations.
