Colombian musical group bus accidents
Overview
In October 2026, two separate bus accidents involving musical groups occurred in Colombia.
On October 17, a bus carrying singer Alexis Escobar’s musical group overturned on the Ruta del Sol in Cundinamarca. The vehicle was traveling from Antioquia to Bogotá when the accident occurred. Two members of the group were injured and hospitalized, though Escobar reported that most members were out of danger and no injuries were life-threatening.
On October 26, a different accident occurred near the Ariguaní River bridge on the road between Pueblo Nuevo and Bosconia. A bus carrying KBeto Zuleta’s group, which was returning from a performance in Sincelejo, Sucre, struck a bridge railing and fell toward the river. This incident resulted in the deaths of vocalist Geovanny Lobo and guitarist Harold Santana, while approximately 20 to 21 others were injured.
Following the accident, Bosconia Mayor Jorge Patiño confirmed that the death toll rose to four members of the group. While Lobo and Santana were identified, two other fatalities have not yet been fully identified. Kbeto Zuleta, son of Poncho Zuleta, sustained critical injuries and underwent surgery for the amputation of a leg due to severe vascular and bone damage; he remains in intensive care.
Authorities are investigating the cause, with preliminary hypotheses suggesting mechanical failure, a loss of vehicle control, or that the driver may have experienced a “microsleep” or fatigue.
