Colombian water and sewage tariff adjustments
Overview
Following the establishment of new methodologies by the Commission for the Regulation of Drinking Water and Basic Sanitation (CRA), utility companies in various Colombian regions are adjusting water and sewage tariffs.
In Bucaramanga, the Acueducto Metropolitano de Bucaramanga postponed a planned 25% water rate increase until December 2026 to allow for national discussions regarding CRA Resolution 1032 of 2026. However, sewage and waste collection fees remain subject to changes, with Empas confirming a 19.5% increase for sewage services. In Pasto, a 5% increase in water tariffs took effect on July 1.
In the Huila department, the implementation of Resolution CRA 1032 of 2026 has led to a general average increase of 15.4% for water and sewage rates in Pitalito. This regulatory change also affects several other municipalities in Huila, including Neiva, Garzón, La Plata, Campoalegre, and Palermo.
