Former primary, former Hartford Mayor Luke Bronin won the Democratic primary, defeating primary for Connecticut’s 1st Congressional District, unseating 14-term incumbent U.S. Representative John Larson. Bronin, 47, secured approximately 53% to 54% of the vote, campaigning on a platform of “generational change” and the need for new energy within the Democratic Party. Larson, 78, received roughly between 32% and 35% of the vote. Despite receiving the backing of the state’s congressional delegation and House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, Larson was unable to overcome Bronin’s momentum and fundraising. The race also highlighted concerns regarding Larson’s campaign had previously addressed health concerns following a seizure on the House floor last year, but he was unable to secure year.
