Cooperative activities in Northern Italy

Overview

Cooperative initiatives in Northern Italy have focused on both regional economic support and social welfare.

Coop Lombardia launched ‘La Lombardia di Coop’ at Milan’s Castello Sforzesco to showcase 22 regional agri-food and wine producers. President Alfredo De Bellis stated that the cooperative system maintains vital production hubs and jobs, noting that Coop Italia purchases approximately 2.4 billion euros from Lombardy-based producers. The initiative aims to highlight the cooperative’s role in supporting local supply chains and generating economic value.

Following this, Nova Coop announced the ‘Dona la Spesa’ food collection drive, scheduled for October 17 across 63 supermarkets in Piedmont and upper Lombardy. The drive seeks to collect essential goods for families facing economic hardship. The initiative involves collaboration with non-profit organizations, including Caritas in Alessandria and Casale Monferrato, and the Red Cross in Valenza.
