COP31 youth climate summit initiatives in Turkey
Overview
As part of the COP31 climate summit initiatives, youth-focused environmental programs have been held across various Turkish provinces.
In Ordu, child representatives from several Black Sea provinces gathered for the COP31 Black Sea Climate Summit. Under the project ‘Children, Small Steps and Big Waves for a Blue Future’, participants discussed marine conservation, sea pollution, microplastics, and biological diversity. Local officials highlighted ongoing efforts in waste management, rainwater control, and testing electricity generation from waves.
Following this, a provincial meeting and student workshop were held in Sivas. Attended by local education officials and students, the workshop utilized group studies and team-based activities to increase awareness of climate change. Students shared observations regarding their local environments and developed solution proposals to present their findings.
