The 2026 Copa Centroamericana tournament continues to see shifting dynamics across its groups. In Group B, Alianza FC has secured a historic qualification for the quarter-finals following a 1-0 victory against CD Marathón in Honduras. Matías Mier scored the decisive goal in the 62nd minute, bringing Alianza’s total to nine points and placing them at the top of the group. This achievement makes Alianza the first Salvadoran team to secure a spot in the quarterfinals. This result leaves Club Sport Herediano needing a win in their final match against Antigua to maintain mathematical chances of advancing. Previously, Nicaragua’s Real Estelí, known as ‘Tren del Norte’, secured a victory against Alianza FC at Estadio Independencia via a header by Héctor Aranda, though Alianza has since moved forward. In Group D, FAS and Municipal of Guatemala played to a 1-1 draw at Estadio Cuscatlán. Jorge Cruz scored for FAS in the 35th minute, but Cristian Hernández equalized for Municipal via a penalty in the 44th minute. The draw complicates FAS’s path to the next round, leaving them in fourth place with four points and dependent on other results, while a victory against Cartaginés to advance. Municipal sits in third place with five points and requires a victory win against Motagua in their final group match to maintain their chances of advancing. Meanwhile, Xelajú and Mixco continue to maintain their hopes in their respective groups.
