Corinthians administrative and supporter unrest
Overview
Supporters of the Brazilian football club Corinthians, led by groups such as Gaviões da Fiel, have intensified pressure on club president Osmar Stabile regarding administrative and financial issues.
In April, supporters demanded transparency concerning the proposed Football-Club Corporation (SAF) structure and sought resolution for active transfer bans imposed by FIFA and the CBF. While Stabile pledged to explore payment solutions, he denied prior meetings regarding an “owner-controlled” SAF.
By mid-August, tensions escalated into direct protests at Stabile’s private residence. Protesters, including the collective Pixadores da Fiel (PDF), used slogans such as “Intervenção Judicial Já” (Judicial Intervention Now) and “Fora Ratos” (Out, Rats) to demand his resignation. These demonstrations followed the departure of player Memphis Depay and the team’s elimination from the Copa do Brasil.
Following these protests, the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) issued a formal repudiation of criminal threats and intimidation directed at Stabile and his family. Stabile reported that attackers used knives and firearms to intimidate him, and that personal and banking data belonging to him, his wife, and his daughters were leaked. The president described the situation as a severe violation of privacy and safety, noting that criminals have been contacting his family via messaging apps. These incidents occur as the club faces significant financial challenges, including debts exceeding R$ 2.7 billion.
