Cornwall Council has scheduled extensive utility and infrastructure works throughout the summer and autumn. Following July closures for water and cabling in Launceston, Wadebridge, and Liskeard, further works are planned for August and September. In Launceston, the B3254 between Rockwell and St Stephen’s Hill will close for cover replacement on 3 August, followed by resurfacing works between 17 and 28 August on Dutson Road, Newport Square, West Bridge Road, Roydon Road, and St Stephen’s Hill. These resurfacing works will include a temporary suspension of the St Stephen’s Hill one-way system during overnight hours. Additionally, North Beer Lane is scheduled for closure from 21 to 29 September for National Grid electric connection works. Other scheduled closures include Buckles Hill on 5 August for ducting, and gas-main replacements affecting Holnicote Road (3 August – 4 September), a Bude footpath (4 August – 14 September), and several streets in Saltash (3 August – 21 August). In Hessenford, Church Hill will close from 17 August to 21 September for wall repairs. Additional September works include overnight closures in Liskeard for gully clearing in early September, and joint box access, a 24-hour closure at Pink Moors in St Day (1–7 September), and defect repairs on Mitchell Lane in Camborne (3–4 September). In North Cornwall, Union Hill in Stratton and Coast Road in Bude are scheduled for closures between 7 and 9 September. In South East Cornwall, Passage Lane in Fowey will close on 7 September, while Browns Hill will close from 22 to 24 September for BT ducting. An emergency footpath closure in Lostwithiel is expected to remain until late September. On 1 August, the council’s cash-free parking shift took effect, limiting cash acceptance to 43 car parks to save an estimated £80,000 annually. Simultaneously, the national Great British Summer Savings Scheme launched, providing free local-bus travel for English children under 16 to ease cost-of-living pressures.
