Corporate earthquake relief efforts in Venezuela
Overview
Following a double earthquake on June 24, various companies in Venezuela have initiated social programs to provide relief to affected families and children.
Lactalis Venezuela launched the ‘Un Vaso de Esperanza’ (A Glass of Hope) program, which donates 31 grams of powdered milk to non-governmental organizations for every kilogram of specific brands sold. The company has pledged to release transparency reports regarding the aid distributed.
Mondelēz Venezuela introduced the ‘Comparte por una buena causa’ (Share for a Good Cause) initiative. Running through August and September, the campaign donates a percentage of sales from biscuit brands to the Dividendo Voluntario para la Comunidad (DVC). General Manager Rubén Echeverri noted that while the company previously provided direct product donations, this initiative is designed to offer “medium- and long-term support” for the most affected areas.
