Corporate tax debt and violations in Vietnam

Overview

In September 2026, Vietnamese authorities reported significant tax arrears and violations involving various enterprises.

Initially, the Region VII Customs Department disclosed that 40 companies owed approximately 480 billion VND in unpaid taxes, administrative fines, and late fees. These debts, largely classified as “enforced debts,” were concentrated across several border locations such as the Lao Cai International Border Gate and Yen Bai. Huang Lan Trading Co., Ltd. was noted as the largest debtor, owing 107.347 billion VND.

Subsequently, tax authorities in Da Nang and Hanoi issued penalties against other entities. Three companies, including Da Nang House Development Investment Joint Stock Company (NDN), Nam Tan Uyen Industrial Park Joint Stock Company, and 911 Group Joint Stock Company, were ordered to pay over 11 billion VND. Violations included incorrect tax declarations and improper invoicing. Nam Tan Uyen Industrial Park Joint Stock Company reported that it has since fulfilled its obligations to the state budget.
