Corruption and fraud involving Adam Iza and L.A. deputies

A federal investigation into cryptocurrency entrepreneur Adam Iza has resulted in the sentencing of both Iza and a former Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputy, Eric Saavedra.

In late September 2026, Saavedra was sentenced to nearly two years in prison after pleading guilty to conspiracy against rights and making a false tax return. Through his company, Saavedra hired deputies to provide security for Iza, who paid approximately $100,000 per month. These deputies were involved in criminal activities on Iza’s behalf. Saavedra was also ordered to pay restitution to the IRS and forfeit luxury items.

Following this, Adam Iza was sentenced to over six years in prison for conspiracy, wire fraud, and tax evasion. Iza admitted to concealing more than $36 million in income and using his wealth to corrupt law enforcement. Prosecutors found that Iza utilized off-duty deputies as personal enforcers to conduct extortion, intimidation, and staged arrests. Iza’s sentence will run concurrently with a 15-year sentence he is already serving for a separate robbery and kidnapping case in Connecticut.
