Crime and theft operations in Mexico

Overview

Law enforcement activities in Mexico have focused on combating vehicle and motorcycle theft. In Toluca, Estado de México, a coordinated operation between Municipal Police and the Fiscalía General de Justicia del Estado de México resulted in the arrest of 10 individuals. These arrests included eight people and one minor in San Cristóbal Huichochitlán, where officers seized motorcycles with missing identification numbers, a firearm, and an engine with a filed-off identification number. In the El Seminario neighborhood, another suspect was detained with suspected marijuana and a knife.

Reports also indicate that the ‘Moto Segura’ program in Toluca removed 762 motorcycles from circulation between January and mid-September, leading to 31 detentions for various offenses.

In Cuautla, Mexico, armed individuals conducted a robbery at a Banorte bank branch on Avenida Reforma. During the heist, a security guard sustained a head injury. The suspects fled the scene on a black motorcycle with an unspecified amount of cash, prompting local investigations and a police search in the area.
