Criminal activity in Colombia and Peru
Overview
Reports of violent and criminal activity have emerged across Colombia and Peru. In Bogotá, a 16-year-old girl was hospitalized with serious injuries following a stabbing attack in the Usaquén district; her partner is the primary suspect. In Pisco, Peru, a student filed a complaint alleging sexual assault by a lawyer following a meeting involving alcoholic beverages.
In Colombia, legal and police actions have addressed various crimes. In Medellín and Bucaramanga, Nancy Agudelo received a prison sentence of over 10 years for a multi-billion peso investment fraud scheme. Additionally, in Bogotá, authorities arrested a man accused of systematically sexually abusing his two daughters, aged 8 and 12, since 2020. The investigation by the Seccional de Investigación Criminal (SIJIN) was initiated after a school alert led to a confession from one of the children. Investigators reported that the suspect used manipulation, such as providing toys and money, and issued physical threats against the mother to maintain silence. The suspect has been placed at the disposal of the Fiscalía General de la Nación to face charges of aggravated sexual acts with a minor under fourteen.
In Pasto, an individual was apprehended following a fatal incident where a pedestrian was allegedly pushed into the path of a vehicle.
