Criminal and traffic law enforcement in Croatia

Overview

Law enforcement in Croatia has conducted several operations resulting in arrests and judicial penalties for traffic and public order offenses.

In Končanica, a 40-year-old man was ordered to be held in Bjelovar Prison for up to 15 days after being caught driving without a license, registration, or insurance. In Split, a 47-year-old man was sentenced to 15 days of detention following an incident where he caused chaos in a shop while intoxicated, stole items, and insulted a staff member. Additionally, in Pitomača, a 31-year-old Nepalese citizen was fined 990 euros and received a one-month ban on using his foreign driver's license after crashing a vehicle while driving under the influence.

More recently, a 34-year-old man was arrested and sent to Bjelovar Prison after causing a traffic accident near Grubišno Polje. The individual was driving without a valid license and lost control of his vehicle due to excessive speed, entering a roadside ditch. Alcohol testing revealed a blood alcohol concentration of 2.56 g/kg. Due to prior offenses, police have temporarily seized his vehicle and proposed a fine of 4,000 euros.

Further reports indicate continued enforcement of public order laws. In Zagreb, a 56-year-old security guard was fined following an incident involving physical aggression and discriminatory behavior toward two Filipino women at Bundek park.
