Criminal investigations and fatalities in Switzerland

Overview

Swiss authorities have reported a series of criminal investigations and fatal incidents across various regions.

In late September, investigations were launched in Graubünden following the discovery of a deceased senior woman, leading to the arrest of a 36-year-old German man on suspicion of intentional homicide. Simultaneously, in Bern, police investigated a homicide and suspected suicide involving an 84-year-old man and his 49-year-old son.

By early October, reports expanded to include significant drug enforcement and various accidents. Zurich police seized over 20 kilograms of cocaine and other narcotics in Kloten, resulting in two arrests. Other reported incidents included a stabbing in Biasca involving a 17-year-old suspect, a fatal paragliding accident in Unterseen, a death following a balcony fall in Biel, a fatality in an attic fire in Oberwinterthur, a vehicle collision in Grafstal, and a construction crane collapse in Ipsach.

On October 6, Zurich Cantonal Police conducted a further narcotics operation in the Balsberg area of Kloten. Following the observation of a suspicious hand-off, officers seized approximately 12.3 kilograms of cocaine and 12,000 Swiss francs. A search of a residence led to the recovery of additional cocaine, MDMA, ketamine, methamphetamine, and an unidentified substance. Two men, aged 32 and 35, were arrested as the investigation into the trafficking operation continues.
