In Lisbon, the trial of two officers from the PSP Rato station commenced on September 11, 2026. The Public Ministry further claims that images of these abuses were allegedly shared in WhatsApp groups with dozens of other officers.

Regarding the retaliatory shootings in the Amadora region, the Polícia Judiciária has detained three suspects aged between 18 and 21. The violence was triggered by a June 2025 dispute at Carcavelos beach that resulted in a suspended prison sentence for a 21-year-old man. Following that legal outcome, a witness was shot in the abdomen on April 4, and the witness’s father was fatally shot on May 21. The suspects have been placed in preventive detention.
