In July 2026, Croatian health authorities launched a series of public‑health warnings aimed at protecting families. The first advisory (19 July) focused on children, highlighting drowning as the leading cause of death for youngsters under four and warning of medication‑related poisoning incidents among infants and adolescents. It urged constant supervision, proper use of flotation devices, safe storage of medicines and public‑education campaigns.

A week later (28 July) the guidance expanded to cover encounters with dangerous wildlife and insect bites affecting pets. Officials detailed how to respond to snake, bear, wild boar, spider and poisonous fish encounters, and provided first‑aid steps for bites. Pet owners received recommendations for cleaning and monitoring insect bites on dogs and cats, as well as preventive measures against ticks and fleas.

Together, the advisories illustrate a broader effort by Croatia to raise awareness of diverse safety hazards—from child‑focused home risks to outdoor wildlife threats—encouraging vigilance and prompt medical response.
