Croatian parliamentary legislative activities
Overview
The Croatian Parliament has been engaged in various legislative processes, ranging from procedural reforms to social welfare and energy policy.
Initially, lawmakers considered amendments to the Rules of Procedure intended to streamline parliamentary debates by reducing the time allotted for club and individual discussions. While some representatives supported the efficiency gains, others, such as Marija Selak Raspudić of the Drito party, dismissed the amendments as ‘unimportant cosmetic changes’.
Subsequent legislative sessions expanded to include debates on energy protections and social welfare. Proposals were introduced to ban electricity disconnections for vulnerable customers and to reform the electricity market to allow for dynamic pricing and renewable energy sharing. Additionally, the government proposed increasing pensions for veterans and pay for caregivers of war invalids. Other parliamentary activities included the rejection of a proposal regarding student removal in cases of school violence and discussions on extending the working age for certain higher education professors.
