Côte d'Ivoire fuel price stability and Petroci incident

Overview

On October 31, 2026, a gas leak and fire occurred at the Petroci gas site in Vridi, Abidjan. Emergency protocols were activated by Petroci, the Ivorian Refining Company, and military firefighters, successfully containing the fire without reported casualties or impact on the national butane supply.

Following the incident, the Ivorian Ministry of Mines, Petroleum and Energy announced that fuel prices for November 2026 would remain unchanged. Super unleaded petrol, gasoil, kerosene, and domestic butane gas prices were set to stay at their current levels. However, by early November, it was noted that industrial butane prices for businesses in the Abidjan Autonomous District were expected to rise by approximately 36 percent.
