Overview

Cuba has engaged in high-level diplomatic meetings to strengthen international relations and reaffirm strategic cooperation. During the colloquium, President Díaz-Canel emphasized the relevance of Castro’s thought, while Chinese representative Liu Haixing reiterated support for the Cuban Revolution.

In addition to the colloquium, various Cuban institutions have held tributes, including the Ministry of Tourism in Matanzas and the National Civil Defense State Staff. International solidarity has also been noted through Brazilian groups donating medical supplies to mitigate the impact of economic sanctions. Politically, the Cuban government has used the occasion to reaffirm sovereignty and condemn the United States' economic, commercial, and financial blockade. Amidst these commemorations, President Díaz-Canel addressed economic reforms, stating that recent measures are part of a long-term national process of “economic perfection” rather than concessions to the United States.

While official forums emphasize international solidarity, contrasting views persist. Religious figures such as Father Alberto Reyes have called for democratic transitions to address poverty, while observers note tensions between the revolutionary project and daily hardships like electricity cuts and fuel shortages.
