Querétaro is hosting a series of major cultural and artistic events throughout late 2026. In September, the Universidad Autónoma de Querétaro (UAQ) scheduled a program of eight performances at its Aeropuerto campus. Concurrently, Cirque du Soleil premiered its new production, ‘Echo’, at the Autódromo de Querétaro on September 3. To support the local artistic community, the Querétaro Secretary of Culture has implemented strategies to mitigate budget restrictions. Secretary of Culture Ana Paola López Birlain reported that 1,221 artists and collectives received support through 44 public calls, totaling 31 million pesos. In October, the Encuentro de la Red de Centros de las Artes Querétaro 2026 brought together leaders from arts centers across 24 Mexican states from October 8 to 10. Vicente Jurado López, coordinator of the Centro Nacional de las Artes (CENART), advocated for an academic network to improve support for artists. Additionally, the UAQ hosted the Bienal Queer BQ07, titled ‘Remembranza. Representación. Resistencia’, on October 14 and 16. The sixth Festival del Vino Queretano is scheduled for October 16 to 18 in Corregidora. Cultural celebrations of indigenous traditions took place in October, including a celebration by the Triqui community at the Plaza de Armas to mark October 12. Members of the Triquis Tinojey organization shared their Oaxacan heritage through traditional music, clothing, and food to emphasize the preservation of customs. Furthermore, the Trámite platform is celebrating its tenth anniversary with a three-day program of exhibitions and artist talks to strengthen the contemporary art scene. The Clúster de Industrias Creativas has also organized a weekend of contemporary art featuring Open House Querétaro, which offers tours of architectural heritage, and QROMA, a festival of ephemeral floor art. Preparations continue for the 46th National Theater Showcase (MNT2026), running November 5–14. The Centro de las Artes de Querétaro (CEART) is also set to host the second edition of the ‘Ahí vienen nuestros muertos’ market from October 23 to 25, featuring traditional Day of the Dead items and workshops.
