Cultural and tourism initiatives in Chihuahua continue to focus on heritage preservation and regional promotion. Cultural institutions have implemented programs such as ‘Domingo de Museos’, providing free admission to various museums in Chihuahua, Delicias, and Parral to showcase natural history and Mexican Revolutionary history. Additionally, documentary screenings like ‘Los hombres pájaro’ have been used to document ancestral ceremonies such as the ‘Voladores de Papantla’. Complementing these efforts, the Secretariat of Tourism has organized adventure and gastronomic events, including the ‘Ruta de la Manzana’ off-road tour, the ‘Rocky San Andrés’ motorcycle gathering, the ‘Vendimia Vazqueño 2026’ wine festival, and the 9th Chihuahua Artisanal Beer Tour. Recent performing arts initiatives have further highlighted the state’s history and indigenous traditions. The Centro Municipal de las Artes (CMA) dance company, ‘México, Fiesta y Tradición’, debuted its season with ‘Chihuahua, nuestra herencia’. Directed by Lilia Ruvalcaba, the production incorporates redovas, polkas, and contemporary dance to blend Tarahumara culture with Mexican Revolutionary themes. Furthermore, Casa Chihuahua Centro de Patrimonio Cultural hosted ‘Gawí, cuentos de la tierra’, a puppet theater performance by Fantasía Impromptu. This production utilizes five ancestral legends to explore the Rarámuri worldview and its connection to nature, aiming to promote the recognition of indigenous cultural diversity. Expanding on these efforts, the Chihuahua Municipal Government has announced a day of Indigenous and Traditional Games and Sports to be held on September 5 at the Luis H. Álvarez Polideportivo to commemorate International Indigenous Women's Day. The event will feature the Arihueta Race for indigenous girls and women, the Bola Race, and traditional mental dexterity games such as chilillo, pitarra, and palillo.
