Cultural developments in Rome theaters

Overview

Rome continues to see diverse developments within its theatrical and social spaces. At Teatro Diamante, the ‘Retroscena’ wine bar and social hub, developed by Alessandro Longobardi, Patrick Pistolesi, Richard Ercolani, and Federico Norvet, serves as a meeting point for artists and audiences under 40.

Scheduled cultural activities in the Lazio region include the Pasolini Art Visual Territorio festival at Teatro Porta Portese, featuring performances dedicated to Pier Paolo Pasolini. Teatro Natività is set to host ‘Fantasmagoria,’ an original production involving a dialogue between writer Maria Cuono and director Claudia Cotti Zelati, featuring music by Maurizio Di Francesco and vocals by Graziano Piazza Bellini.

The ‘Shakespeare in sneakers’ project is launching ‘Ritorno a Itaca,’ a theatrical laboratory integrating the myth of Ulysses with the experiences of migrants, young artists, and people experiencing homelessness. Other ongoing or upcoming highlights include the inauguration of ‘Il Banco delle Arti’ at the Ponte Milvio Market and the Rome Film Festival, which showcases approximately 150 titles at the Auditorium Parco della Musica and various other venues.
