Cultural exhibitions and festivals in Poland

Cultural events and exhibitions have been held across various locations in Poland. In Żywiec, the Batory Cultural Center hosted the ‘Emersja’ exhibition, which featured paintings created from human hair. Additionally, the Old Castle held a temporary exhibition of the Gothic relief ‘Assumption of the Virgin Mary’, allowing for close inspection of the artwork before its return to the local parish church. In other regions, festivities included the Rawicz City Festival, which featured musical performances by groups such as Łzy and Golec uOrkiestra. Meanwhile, Zielona Góra hosted the Winobranie parade, themed ‘Roots and Leaves’, which included a procession of winemakers, street theater, and dance groups. The Winobranie festival concluded with wine bus tours to local vineyards and theatrical performances.

Recent cultural activity has expanded into theater and community programming. The ‘Teatr Polska’ program brought the play ‘Chłopcy’ to Wieliczka to examine the radicalization of young men, while Elbląg hosted ‘Przesyłka z zaświatów’. At Teatr Rozbark, exhibitions featured recycled costumes by Małgorzata Bulanda. Community-focused events included the ‘Piknik Aktywnych Mieszkańców’ in Rawicz, alongside the Young Theater Festival and Toruń Jazz Days in Toruń. Further regional traditions have been highlighted through local fairs. In Wieruszów, the ninth edition of the ‘Retro Jarmark’ featured a 1920s and 1930s theme, showcasing traditional crafts such as blacksmithing, pottery, and woodcarving.

Newer initiatives have focused on cross-border cooperation and literary engagement. In Zakopane, the ‘Most Kultury’ project was launched in Poprad, Slovakia, to promote the shared heritage and traditions of the Tatra mountain region through exhibitions and regional folk performances. Literary activities included the ‘Narodowe Czytanie’ (National Reading) event, where Adam Mickiewicz’s ‘Dziady’ was read in Niepołomice and Dębno. In Łomża, workshops explored the therapeutic role of literature and AI, while Suwałki hosted a presentation of a digital photographic archive of Andrzej Strumiłło’s travels to Vietnam.
