Cultural exhibitions and heritage events in Romania

Cultural institutions in Romania have launched various exhibitions and commemorative projects. In Bistrița, the ARTIMEGE Association celebrated its 20th anniversary with the ‘ARTIMAGE 20’ salon, showcasing 80 photographic works. Simultaneously, the ‘Vasile Pârvan’ Museum in Bârlad hosted a retrospective of painter Constantin Tofan’s work, featuring landscapes and abstract constructions.

Further cultural activities include the National Museum of History of Romania launching a postage stamp series titled ‘Dacian Gold. Reunification of the Historical Treasure’. Created in partnership with Romfilatelia and the Romanian Post, the stamps feature illustrations by Mircea Cantor depicting the Coțofenești helmet and two Dacian bracelets. These artifacts were returned to the country in 2026 after being stolen from the Drents Museum in the Netherlands in January 2025. Additionally, the Hunting and Natural Sciences Museum in Sfântu Gheorghe opened an exhibition of over 5,000 badges from various private collections, covering themes such as history, space, and sports.

Art Safari has also introduced major projects, including the ‘War and Peace’ exhibition held in partnership with the Brukenthal National Museum. This exhibition explores artistic representations of conflict and peace from the Dacian and Roman periods to the 21st century, featuring works by artists such as Nicolae Grigorescu and Pablo Picasso. Furthermore, the Art Safari New Museum is hosting ‘Brâncuși and His Muses,’ a world premiere curated by Doina Lemny. Supported by the Romanian Cultural Institute, the exhibition includes 40 authentic photographs by Brâncuși alongside approximately 200 documents, drawings, and sculptures.
