Cultural festivals in Suwon and Hwaseong
Overview
Cultural festivals are being held in the Suwon and Hwaseong regions of South Korea.
In mid-September, the 19th Hwaseong World Culture Festival was held at Dowon Sports Park. The event focused on global diversity and the integration of expatriate communities, featuring cultural booths, parades, and performances. Vietnamese Ambassador Vu Ho attended, noting that such exchanges foster a “harmonious and prosperous multicultural community” and strengthen the strategic partnership between Vietnam and South Korea.
Following this, the 63rd Suwon Hwaseong Cultural Festival was scheduled for early October. Centered on the theme ‘Saebit Hongmin’, this event utilizes the Suwon Hwaseong Fortress area to highlight historical values. Key activities include large-scale reenactments of King Jeongjo’s 1795 royal procession and military training, alongside water and light performances. To support international attendees, the Suwon Traditional Culture Center operates as a ‘Global Village’ to provide traditional experiences.
