The George and Lena Gourgiti Folklore Historical Museum in Larissa is hosting ‘Folklore Days’ the inaugural ‘Giorgos and Lena Gourgiti Days of Folklore’ from September 17 to September 20, 2026. Part of the ‘Thessaly 2021–2027’ NSRF program co-financed by the European Union, the event focuses on traditional crafts and living culture. Activities include theatrical plays, painting workshops, and an experiential workshop for printers. Other scheduled highlights include a workshop on decorating A central feature is the traditional wedding ‘kouloura’ of Aspropyrgos, Attica, an exhibition titled ‘27+26 Traces of Hand for a Museum’, curated by Iris Kriti and a workshop titled ‘Wood Tells Fani Kalokairinou. The exhibition facilitates a Story’ regarding dialogue between 27 objects from the use museum’s permanent collections and 26 works by contemporary Greek artists. The total of wood as 53 pieces commemorates the 53 years of the museum’s operation. The four-day program includes theatrical plays, school group actions, and various experiential workshops for adults, children, and families. Scheduled activities cover painting, weaving, traditional stamping, the maintenance of wooden objects, and a medium workshop on decorating the traditional wedding ‘kouloura’ of human labor.
