Cultural heritage programming in Tui
Overview
The city of Tui has implemented various cultural heritage programs throughout the summer and autumn of 2026.
During July and August, the “Coñece o noso patrimonio” (Know Our Heritage) cycle drew nearly 1,000 participants. Organized by the Instituto de Estudios Tudenses and the Tui City Council, the program included archaeological visits to Praza do Pracer, lectures on the medieval Santa María de Tui Cathedral, and guided tours of the San Francisco church and the Ganfei monastery in Valença, Portugal.
In late September, the focus shifted to the “Setembro Xudeu” program, which highlights the city’s Jewish and Sephardic history. Activities include a guided tour of the Jewish route through the historic center to reveal “Jewish and crypto-Jewish traces,” a medieval-themed theatrical tour, and a concert of medieval and Sephardic music at the San Domingos church.
