June saw the 15th Olhar de Cinema – Festival Internacional de Curitiba open with more than 70 Brazilian and international titles, including the world premiere of the Alagoas‑made feature Olhe Para Mim, which later won Best Direction, Sound and Art Direction. The same festival highlighted social‑memory works such as the dam‑disaster documentary Maxita and the classic Narradores de Javé, underscoring Brazil’s focus on collective trauma and environmental issues. Bonito CineSur announced its fourth edition (24 July–1 August) with 32 South‑American films, a tribute to Chilean actress Paulina García, and free workshops linking cinema to ecotourism. Parallel regional festivals – Olhar de Cinema, Santa Cruz de Cinema, Pinhais, and the 30th Cine/PE – awarded short‑form works, while free community screenings in Matinhos and Juiz de Fora broadened public access. The national release slate mixed Hollywood blockbusters (Spielberg’s Dia D, Supergirl) with Brazilian titles such as O Barulho da Noite and the animated Minions & Monsters (2 July). A 4K restoration of Cacá Diegues’s Xica da Silva celebrated its 50th anniversary with screenings in Salvador, Cuiabá and other cities. Gramado’s 54th edition (12–22 August) honoured Selton Mello and Maria Fernanda Cândido with a shared Kikito de Cristal, opened with Bruno Safadi’s Antártida, and announced the pre‑premiere of the series Emergência 53. The festival also highlighted Camila Morgado in Vitória. Internationally, Brazil’s animation sector gained exposure at Annecy, while new regional festivals – Goitacá and Matula – combined film with indigenous curation and gastronomy, reinforcing the season’s emphasis on diversity, public participation and the promotion of national and South‑American cinema. The Cine Caravana project continued its outreach, staging free screenings and workshops in Poços de Caldas (July 31–August 1) and offering short films such as Chef Jack: O Cozinheiro Aventureiro and the dystopian feature Medida Provisória.
