The island‑wide policing campaign that began in April 2026 has intensified through night‑time patrols, checkpoints and targeted raids. Early actions included overnight patrols in Protaras that arrested two burglary suspects and stopped 468 vehicles, and responses to violent incidents in Limassol and Nicosia. In May, a joint Cyprus‑FBI investigation into the “Santi” case was launched and public warnings about telephone‑based financial scams were issued. Night raids in May stopped 388 vehicles and led to eight drug‑possession arrests; a nationwide crackdown later that month arrested ten people and generated numerous traffic violations. June saw a wave of operations—burglary arrests in three districts, a 12‑person drug raid, a €9.8 million jewellery disappearance probe, land‑dispute organised‑crime arrests, extensive night‑patrol sweeps, a fraud‑extortion detention, a large drug bust in Paphos, and coordinated traffic checks in Northern Cyprus. By late June, nighttime traffic checks stopped 895 vehicles, seized 22 cars and detained three drunken drivers. In late July, a night‑time operation across urban areas stopped 570 vehicles, checked 760 occupants and led to four arrests; 14 vehicles were seized and 126 alcohol and 12 drug tests were performed. In early August, a large raid stopped 838 drivers and 348 passengers, resulting in 12 arrests for offences including drug possession, illegal residence and vehicle theft. This coincided with the Europe‑wide Roadpol campaign (3–9 August), where police deployed intensive road checks targeting speeding, DUI, and mobile‑phone use ahead of the August 15 holiday. On 9 August, widespread preventive operations led to nine arrests and 372 complaints, including cases of dangerous driving, burglary tool possession, and an attack on a police officer. On 12 August, a coordinated overnight nationwide operation across urban areas resulted in 17 arrests for offenses including illegal stay, drug possession, carrying offensive weapons, burglary tool possession, public drunkenness, and assaulting a police officer.
