During NHL preseason activities, Czech players Filip Chytil and Jiří Kulich both sustained injuries. Jiří Kulich, playing for the Buffalo Sabres, was removed from a game against the Detroit Red Wings as a precautionary measure following his first goal since October 2025. Filip Chytil, a forward for the Vancouver Canucks, was forced to leave a game against the Edmonton Oilers after tripping over referee Riley Brace’s skates. The resulting head-first collision with the end boards caused impact to his head and shoulder. Given Chytil’s history of five career concussions, the incident has initially raised medical concerns.
