Czech NHL players preseason injuries

Overview

During NHL preseason activities, Czech players Filip Chytil and Jiří Kulich both sustained injuries.

Jiří Kulich, playing for the Buffalo Sabres, was removed from a game against the Detroit Red Wings as a precautionary measure following his first goal since October 2025.

Filip Chytil, a forward for the Vancouver Canucks, was forced to leave a game against the Edmonton Oilers after tripping over referee Riley Brace’s skates. The resulting head-first collision with the end boards caused impact to his head and shoulder. Given Chytil’s history of five career concussions, the incident initially raised medical concerns.

Following the collision, the Vancouver Canucks placed Chytil on injured reserve, retroactive to September 24. General manager Ryan Johnson clarified that the injury is “more of a muscular strain” on his shoulder rather than a more severe injury. Chytil is currently considered week-to-week, though he is not expected to be ready for the start of the regular season.
