Infrastructure maintenance and reconstruction projects continue across the Czech Republic and Slovakia, with an increasing focus on technological integration for monitoring and safety. In the Czech Republic, the Road and Motorway Directorate (ŘSD) has undertaken various repairs, including the I/37 road, the D11 highway, and the D5 motorway. Technological modernization is also expanding through the use of the CleverRA Car EVO diagnostic vehicle and planned intersection upgrades in Přerov. A strategic priority has emerged to address a significant shortage of highway amenities. Radek Mátl of the ŘSD reports a deficit of approximately 1,000 to 1,500 parking and overnight spaces for trucks, buses, and caravans, with critical shortages noted near Prague, Brno, and along the D1 motorway. To combat this, the ŘSD aims to expand from roughly 150 rest areas to 200 within five years, targeting a total of 6,852 spaces by 2031. However, expansion efforts face challenges including land availability and local opposition regarding noise and crime. Recent ~~completions include a 163 million CZK bilateral rest area near Předměřice nad Labem on the D11 and a 173 million CZK modernization of a rest area near Vyškov on the D1. New~~ developments include a 121.5 million CZK reconstruction of the I/60 road in the Olomouc region, awarded to STRABAG a. s., to repair damage from catastrophic floods in September 2024. This project covers a five-kilometer stretch between Lipová-lázně and ~~Vápenná. Additionally,~~ Vápenná, involving new road surfaces and retaining walls. Furthermore, the Czech government ~~is proposing~~ has approved an 87 billion CZK budget ~~for~~ from the ~~ŘSD~~ State Fund for Transport Infrastructure (SFDI) to support a major expansion. This program aims to construct up to 154 kilometers of new roads, including 90.8 kilometers of highways and 50.3 kilometers of first-class ~~roads, prioritizing~~ roads. Key upcoming projects include sections of the ~~D6, D35,~~ D52, D6, D7, D48, D55, and ~~D55 motorways.~~ D35 motorways, as well as capacity expansions for the Prague ring road and the D1 near Brno.
