Daejeon youth support initiatives
Overview
Daejeon Metropolitan City has introduced multiple municipal initiatives aimed at supporting the economic and social stability of its youth population.
In August 2026, the city launched ‘Daon Cafe’, a public youth self-sufficiency job model located at the Gapcheon Ecological Lake Park Community Center. Operated by participants from the Seo-gu Local Self-Sufficiency Center, the cafe provides practical experience in service and management to foster economic independence. The project also serves as a retail hub for local brands and regional specialty teas.
Concurrently, the city announced the 2026 Youth Monthly Rent Support Project. This city-funded program seeks to assist 1,000 non-homeowning residents aged 19 to 39 by providing 200,000 KRW per month for up to 12 months. The initiative is designed with more flexible age and income requirements than national programs to help alleviate housing costs and encourage local settlement.
