Dallas Wings WNBA season progress

Following the All-Star break, the Dallas Wings reached an 18-9 record, their strongest start since 2006. Coach Jose Fernandez and General Manager Curt Miller indicated that the team would prioritize defense and rebounding to secure a top-eight seed and home-court advantage.

The team subsequently clinched a WNBA playoff berth after a 96-78 victory over the Portland Fire. This win brought the Wings to a 23-16 record, establishing a new franchise record for regular-season wins and marking their first postseason appearance since 2023.

In the clinching victory, Paige Bueckers recorded a double-double with 22 points and 11 assists. Other notable performances included Jessica Shepard with 21 points and Awak Kuier, who contributed 12 points, 12 rebounds, and five blocks. This success occurred despite the absence of rookie Azzi Fudd, who remains sidelined for the season following a knee procedure.

With the Wings' qualification, the eight-team playoff field is now complete, featuring the Dallas Wings, Washington Mystics, New York Liberty, Indiana Fever, Atlanta Dream, Las Vegas Aces, Golden State Valkyries, and Minnesota Lynx. Dallas is scheduled to conclude its regular season against the Connecticut Sun on August 30.
