Spike Chunsoft and developer Gemdrops have provided updates regarding the release of Danganronpa 2x2, a reinterpretation of Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair. The game is scheduled for release on January 14, 2027, across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC. The title will feature a new scenario involving the original cast on Jabberwock Island, alongside the complete original scenario with modernized graphics and improvements.
Regarding the Nintendo Switch 2 version, Spike Chunsoft announced a change to the physical release format. Instead of a full game on a cartridge, the title will be released as a “game-key card” in all regions. In the United States, customers who pre-ordered the Psycho Tropical Vacation Package through the official store will have their orders canceled and must re-order. In the United Kingdom and Europe, official store pre-orders will proceed but will be fulfilled using the new game-key card format. The original Nintendo Switch version will continue to use traditional cartridges.
