Darling Causeway traffic collisions

Two separate vehicle collisions have occurred at the same intersection of Cobb Lane and the Darling Causeway near Mount Victoria in the Blue Mountains. The first incident, reported in August 2024, involved a car and a truck, leaving three occupants injured; one passenger required air‑lift to Liverpool Hospital and remained in serious condition, while the other two received treatment for less severe injuries. The crash prompted a temporary closure of the causeway in both directions, with traffic rerouted via Bells Line of Road and the Great Western Highway.

A later collision at the same location was reported in August 2026. Again a car and a truck collided, and three patients were assessed: two sustained minor injuries and a third’s condition was initially unknown after being extricated. Emergency services again deployed intensive‑care paramedics and a rescue helicopter, and the road was closed to traffic while motorists were advised to use the same detour routes.

Both events highlight recurring safety concerns on the Darling Causeway, leading authorities to repeatedly advise drivers to avoid the area, allow extra travel time, and follow traffic‑management instructions.
