Death of Ozzy Osbourne
Overview
Ozzy Osbourne, the legendary frontman of Black Sabbath, passed away on July 22, 2025, at the age of 76 due to cardiac arrest. He had been battling Parkinson’s disease, coronary heart disease, and pulmonary issues.
Prior to his death, Osbourne insisted on performing a farewell concert, titled ‘Back to the Beginning’, at Villa Park in Birmingham on July 5, 2025. Sharon Osbourne revealed that the singer ignored warnings from six doctors who cautioned that performing could be fatal. Osbourne reportedly acknowledged his declining health, stating, ‘I know I am dying. If I am going to lose a few months of my life, I want to go this way.’
Following his passing at his home in Buckinghamshire, thousands gathered for a funeral procession in Birmingham to pay their respects. Osbourne was buried in his family garden to maintain privacy. Bandmate Tony Iommi has since reflected on their final telephone conversation on July 21, 2025, noting that Osbourne expressed feeling ‘absolutely shattered’ and ‘really tired’ just one day before his death.
Sharon Osbourne has since shared further details regarding his final moments, noting that his death occurred early in the morning after he had woken for his usual workout. She recalled that following his final Birmingham performance, he was ‘flying high’ and found happiness in reviewing positive fan responses online. Sharon continues to visit his grave in their private garden daily.
In a recent interview with the BBC, approximately 15 months after his passing, Sharon reflected on her grief, stating that the loss is something one ‘never truly gets over, but rather learns to live with.’ She noted that she can see his grave from her window at their family estate in Buckinghamshire.
