In late August 2026, writer and digital thinker Murat Koparan was found dead from a gunshot wound to the head in a villa in Istanbul’s Üsküdar neighborhood. An unlicensed handgun was recovered at the scene, and an investigation into the circumstances of his death was initiated. In early September 2026, Turkish actor Serhat Mustafa Kılıç was found dead in his home in the Kağıthane district of Istanbul. The 51-year-old performer, a Bilkent University graduate known for roles in ‘Seksenler’, ‘Söz’, ‘Ezel’, and ‘Winter Sleep’, was discovered unresponsive on a sofa by his partner of eight years, Özlem Esmergül, after being unreachable for several days. While no open wounds or signs of physical assault were reported, investigators noted bruising around his eyes, arms, and legs. Authorities have recorded Kılıç’s passing as a suspicious death, noting that illegal substances, including cannabis and rolling papers, and alcohol were found at the scene. Kılıç had reportedly been battling lymphoma, alongside other health issues including thyroid problems and a neck hernia.
