During the investigation, discrepancies were noted in the statements provided by Esmergül to the prosecutor. Kılıç was laid to rest in Ankara following a funeral service at the Ahmet Hamdi Akseki Mosque. His death has drawn emotional tributes from the arts community, including fellow actor Eren Vurdem, who described him as a mentor.
