The Delhi Master Plan 2047 (MPD-2047) officially became law following its notification in the Gazette of India on August 20, 2026. Notified under the Delhi Development Act, 1957, the plan replaces MPD-2021 to manage a projected population of approximately 3.2 crore by 2047. To facilitate implementation, the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) has released comprehensive FAQs regarding land use, parking, development control norms, and Transferable Development Rights (TDR), while also providing a digital feedback facility for stakeholder suggestions. The framework aims to deliver approximately 40 lakh additional homes through land pooling, colony redevelopment, and in-situ slum rehabilitation, with an emphasis on Transit-Oriented Development (TOD) around major transport corridors. Following the notification, the DDA has initiated multiple rounds of stakeholder consultations under the direction of Lieutenant Governor and DDA Chairman TS Sandhu. These meetings involve a wide range of civic and service agencies, including the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD), New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC), Delhi Jal Board, Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC), and the Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC). Recent discussions have specifically focused on heritage conservation, bringing together architects, Delhi Tourism, the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI), and the Ministry of Culture to ensure the plan’s core provisions are effectively integrated with preservation efforts. As part of a broader three-month Further outreach program, the DDA has conducted its sixth and seventh rounds of consultations, engaging engaged architects, planners, and representatives from the School of Planning and Architecture (SPA), the National Buildings Construction Corporation (NBCC), and the Institute of Town Planners, India (ITPI). These sessions addressed traffic management, parking infrastructure, and redevelopment projects. Furthering its implementation strategy, To advance implementation, the DDA held an investors’ meet to advance promote its in-situ slum rehabilitation programme. This initiative programme, which seeks to provide affordable and dignified housing for approximately 17 lakh slum cluster dwellers. This meeting provided a platform for private developers to discuss project structures, financing, and risk allocation to encourage private-sector participation.
