Delhi Metro privacy and safety incidents

Incidents involving allegations of unauthorized photography on the Delhi Metro have raised concerns regarding passenger safety and privacy.

In an initial report, two women confronted a man at the Lok Nayak Bhawan Metro station, accusing him of secretly filming and photographing them. Although the man attempted to delete the media, the women reported finding the files in the device’s recycle bin. The event prompted public discussion regarding consent and bystander intervention.

A subsequent incident occurred near the AIIMS Metro Station, where a female passenger confronted a Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) Assistant Sub-Inspector. The confrontation reportedly escalated into a scuffle after passengers discovered photographs of the woman on the official’s phone. Eyewitnesses claimed the official pointed a service pistol at passengers, causing panic.

The CISF has since confirmed that the official remains under suspension pending a detailed inquiry. The agency stated it views the matter with ‘utmost seriousness at the highest levels’. While social media footage of the altercation has circulated, police sources have noted that they have not received a formal complaint and could not confirm the specific claims regarding the use of a firearm.
