In Romania, the country faces vulnerabilities due to political instability following the fall of the Bolojan cabinet. A four-month power vacuum has contributed to social dissatisfaction and mistrust. This has manifested in protests in Victoriei Square, where demonstrations by groups including farmers transitioned from economic grievances to political confrontations with the gendarmerie. Professor Emilian Mihailov noted that while protests empower the ‘demos’, aggressive demonstrations risk generating polarization.

In North Macedonia, efforts focused on democratic education. Parliamentary and diplomatic officials held events for students in Skopje to emphasize respecting majority decisions and political culture. Concurrently, the youth organization HERA Mladi raised concerns regarding ‘algorithmocracy’, warning that digital algorithms can create parallel worlds and deepen social divisions.
