Dental healthcare developments in Poland

Poland is implementing changes and training initiatives within its dental healthcare sector.

As of September 1, 2026, the National Health Fund (NFZ) introduced new regulations for dental services, featuring updated financing methods and specialized preventive hygiene packages for children. These packages, which include professional cleaning and potentially fluoride application or hygiene instruction, are subject to minimum visit duration requirements of 20 to 30 minutes.

In conjunction with these systemic changes, professional training sessions and webinars have been announced to support dental practitioners. These include specialized instruction on orthodontics, such as using clear aligners for Class II malocclusion, and practical workshops in Rumia focused on pediatric dentistry, including sedation, local anesthesia, and endodontics.

Further developments regarding NFZ regulations include new rules for primary healthcare (POZ) providers, effective October 1, 2026. These changes aim to link funding to quality indicators, such as patient participation in preventive screenings. However, medical organizations have expressed concern, warning that clinics may face financial penalties for patient behaviors that are beyond their control.
