Developmental initiatives in Serbia and Republika Srpska have expanded to cover green economy transitions, large-scale infrastructure, and labor market reforms. In the environmental sector, the ‘Green Jobs’ project in Republika Srpska, supported by the EU and ILO, provides vocational training to vulnerable groups. Simultaneously, the UNDP has called for green investments in Serbia for decarbonization and biodiversity protection. Recent efforts in Republika Srpska include a 4.6 million KM competition from the Environmental Protection and Energy Efficiency Fund, which saw high demand in the Banja Luka region. In Serbia, the ‘Eco-Municipality’ competition recognized excellence in waste and water management, alongside a three-year environmental cooperation agreement between France and the EU Delegation. Infrastructure and economic projects continue to scale. Serbia has approved the construction of a 300-hectare technological park in Inđija in collaboration with the Chinese company Mint. Additionally, a 3 million euro project to modernize the Bački Breg – Santo border crossing between Serbia and Hungary is underway, with completion expected by April 2028. Localized road improvements are also progressing; in Ruma, the asphalting of Kneza Ive od Semberije Street was completed to serve local farmers, with Mayor Dušan Ljubišić noting that such projects utilize public-private partnerships to bridge rural and urban gaps. In Zaječar, paving works in Rgotina and the city center are underway, representing investments of 7 million and 17 million dinars respectively. Social and educational reforms also persist. The Serbian Ministry of Justice has allocated 500 million dinars to 222 public interest projects in healthcare, education, and social protection. Educational improvements include the adoption of a World Bank-funded full-day teaching model in 20 schools and traffic safety measures in Plandište. In Republika Srpska, Putevi Republike Srpske is working toward ‘zero child fatalities in traffic by 2035’ via World Bank-funded projects. Labor market reforms are accelerating.
